Written in 2022, Silvia’s second major play made its debut in Nairobi in November 2022. When Federico Taverio is commissioned to write a play about a witch hunt in 16th Century Italy, he is helped by a young girl who comes to him in his dreams. But she wants something in return: that he do what no woman could do, and no man did; defend her.

december 2019
Written by Ernest Lehman in 1957, West Side Story is a Broadway musical inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet that explores the hidden love and rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Silvia directed this play for the International School of Nice in 2019.
arabian nights
february 2020
Based on the One Thousand and One Nights, a collection of Middle Eastern folktales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age, Silvia wrote this set of poems for the International School of Nice, and directed it as a musical evening in February 2019.

Closing the play’s World Tour, A Man Like You was performed in Kampala, at the Kampala International Festival of Theatre in November of 2017.

Continuing its World Tour, as guests of the Government of Hong Kong, A Man Like You was performed at the Kwai Tsing Theatre as part of the World Culture Festival in November 2017. It was described as ‘a fearless spotlight on the global power struggle beyond the headlines.’

the crucible
1988
Written in 1953, Arthur Miller’s classic tragedy, The Crucible, is set during the 1692 witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts. It examines American politics in the 1950s, when Senator Joseph McCarthy’s sensational allegations of communist subversion in high places sowed fear and conformism in the society. This was Silvia’s first directorial experience, at The Long Room in New College, Oxford, in 1988.
